New website

This week I am starting to build a new personal website. I had one for many years, then for reasons good or forgotten, I let it gather dust. Now I’m excited to start again on fresh new soil.

I’d wanted to build a new portfolio/blog for a while, and a few things happened that gave me a nudge this month.

• Much of social media has become unbearable in the current political landscape. I wanted to retreat a bit and build my own space to share my work and thoughts.

• I came across mutuals on Bluesky and Mastodon who were starting to blog again after a break or doing so more regularly. These days I feel like I don’t have much to say but I think I will give blogging another try.

• David Lynch passed away. This might sound banal but a passing such as his was a reminder not to wait before making things I want to make.

I chose Blot as the tool to build this site with. I liked the ease of working with local files in a Dropbox folder.
